Thanks to Dragan Hristov, MD, at the age of 89, I take care of myself

19.07.2017

My “medical history” at “Acibadem Sistina” began 15 years ago with the regular gynecological examinations performed by my friend and neighbor Dr. Slobodan Drakulevski, MD.  From that moment on, up until now, I remain a “loyal patient”. Regardless of the problem or the disease, there was only hospital to turn to.

Throughout the years, several smaller interventions had to be performed: one on the bladder, performed by Dr. Nikola Badzakov, MD, the second – the removal of the cataract by Dr. Zlatko Arnaudovski, MD, and a gastroscopy performed by Dr. Vasko Vasilevski, MD. At the age of 89 I did not have any major problems, up until the moment I carelessly fell.

At the fall I broke my hip

This happened last year. When leaving the bank, I stumbled and fell. My immediate thought was – go to the doctor. I did not feel anything serious but I decided to have a medical check. I took a taxi heading to the well-known address – “Acibadem Sistina”. After the necessary screening it was determined that my fall, actually had causeda serious problem – I have had my hip broken.

All examinations were performed in a day

It was then that I first met with Dr. Dragan Hristov, orthopedist. With great care and devotion he explained to me that a surgery was needed and that my hip was to be replaced with a prosthesis. For my personal safety, considering my age, further examinations were necessary. I had been examined in a single day and got an approval for surgery. The next day, Dr. Dragan Hristov, MD, performed the surgery.

Dr. Hristov, MD, an excellent doctor and a great professional

After the surgery, I stayed at the hospital for 11 days. The recovery was fast and a few days later I could already stand on my feet. I am pleased with the treatment and the attitude of the entire staff at the “Acibadem Sistina” Hospital. Everybody is fully dedicated to their profession but above all, they are friendly and accessible.

After the surgery, I undertook rehabilitation. At first I walked with the help of medical aids, but as time passed I was feeling better and strong enough to start walking on my own, without help.

As I live on my own, within a few months, I could cook for myself, I could walk leaning on a cane, could stoop and kneel.

Thanks to Dr. Dragan Hristov, MD, at 89, with a replaced hip, I can still take care of myself. He is a great doctor and a great professional. He is the reason why I am still vital and looking forward to each new day.

I am looking forward to celebrating my jubilee birthday in a couple of months and to blow 90 candles on my birthday cake.

With respect,

Sonja Koliševska
