27.06.2018

Simulation exercise for care and evacuation of the sick, injured, visitors and personnel to a safe location, giving first aid, fire protection and dealing with natural disasters, was realized this weekend at “Acibadem Sistina” Hospital. The large demonstration exercise was organized in cooperation and with participation by the Directorate for Protection and Rescue – as a member of the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative for South Eastern Europe (DPPI SEE), the Fire Brigade of the City of Skopje and teams of the City Red Cross of Skopje.

During the demonstration exercises, including theoretical and practical part, the participants and employees of “Acibadem Sistina” Hospital were introduced to the emergency evacuation plan in case of a natural disaster, the preventive activities for fire protection of objects, the first fire protection and the practical application of firefighting equipment. Safety and protection of staff and patients is one of the main priorities of “Acibadem Sitina”, say sources  at the Hospital.

“The purpose of organizing the action is to make sure that the hospital staff is ready and able to respond during crisis situations of any kind. Realizing this action today we have seen that staff is trained to support the responsible teams (police, firefighting brigade, etc.), it can take the necessary action to evacuate patients and their families or transfer them to a secure location. The circular moving within the hospital provides an easy access to every corner throughout the hospital, which is of great benefit, especially in time of crisis. The area within the hospital is precisely marked to enable unimpeded moving to the relevant location”, said Marjancho Janevski, commander of the Protection and Rescue Unit at “Acibadem Sistina” Hospital.

The activities undertaken have a preventive and educational character of protection in the first place. Such and similar exercises at certain period of time are part of “Acibadem Sistina” practice of being always ready to respond to situations of natural disasters and other types of accidents.
