Three doctors from Acibadem Sistina Hospital attended the European Cardiology Congress, held this year from August 31 to September 4 in the newly opened largest congress center in Paris. The event was attended by Dr. Daniela Projevska, Dr. Ivan Trajkov and Dr. Dimitar Dushkoski. This year, the congress has gained in importance because it was affiliated with the World Congress of Cardiology. The attending physicians claim that this was an additional opportunity for them because it enabled cardiologists from different parts of the world to confront each other and compare current recommendations from different areas.

“This congress was an optimal meeting for clinical cardiologists and cardiologists who, in addition to clinical practice, are engaged in scientific and research work in order to exchange experiences based on clinical studies and apply them in daily clinical practice for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The congress was attended by about 32,000 delegates from 150 countries discussing and sharing experiences in about 500 sessions. It focused on the so-called Hot line and Late-Breaking Science sessions presenting new recommendations in five areas of cardiology, such as treatment of atrial tachycardia, treatment of pulmonary embolism, treatment of dyslipidemia, and treatment of stable coronary artery disease which has been renamed chronic coronary disease. What is perhaps the most significant novelty is the issuing of new recommendations for the treatment of diabetes, pre-diabetes and cardiovascular diseases as part of cardiological recommendations”, says Dr. Projeska.

New studies with data on therapies and their efficacy have emerged from the congress.
