ACIBADEM SISTINA HOSPITAL CELEBRATED THE WORLD PREMATURITY DAY WITH A SERIES OF ACTIVITIES

17.11.2023

The aim of celebrating November 17th, the World Prematurity Day, is to raise the awareness among the general public about the significance of the prematurity as a health issue, but also as an overall social issue of the entire community. Around 15 million premature babies are born every year in the world. Those are children born before the 37th gestation week and are children with low and very low birth weight (less than 2,500 grams or 1, 500 grams), who needed a special type of care and treatment at special departments (Departments for Neonatal and Special Care of Newborns), and they needed a longer stay and treatment at the medical facilities, and the expenses for their treatment are very high.
