12/05/2025

Acibadem Sistina Hospital has this year as well, for the tenth time in a row, realized the campaign on the occasion of the month of May dedicated to raising awareness among patients about early detection of skin cancer - melanoma. The hospital provided 200 cost-free mole examinations with the purpose of timely diagnosis and prevention. The examinations were conducted by an experienced team of dermatovenerologists, using the cutting-edge technology – Mole Max HD digital dermatoscope. Prof. Andrej Petrov, MD, Specialist in Dermatovenerology, points out that he is particularly proud of the growing interest of patients in cost-free dermoscopic examinations at Acibadem Sistina Hospital. According to him, the positive response directly contributes to increasing awareness of regular dermoscopic check-ups.
"Dermoscopy is the gold standard in the early detection of melanoma. This advanced technology allows for a detailed and precise examination of the skin, with rapid mapping in full HD resolution, analysis and precise location of changes, as well as digital storage of the images. Our recommendation is that dermoscopic follow-ups be performed once a year, starting at the age of ten, regardless of how many moles someone has on their body. In people with a larger number of moles, these examinations are mandatory", says Prof. Andrej Petrov, MD, Specialist in Dermatovenerology.
