Our little heroine Rita, born in the 24th week of gestation with a birth weight of only 610 grams, together with the team of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit won the most important battle of her life. Following 96 days of struggle with all challenges that premature babies face, she went to her real home, into the arms of her parents, who were eagerly awaiting this moment.
This little heroine, weighing only 610 grams - smaller than a hand, had strength greater than any of our imagination. Born with a body weight and gestational age on the very line of the impossible, she began the most difficult battle of her life from the very first moment. In moments like these, questions always arise: is it worth doing everything, are there any chances, should the treatment be continued? Especially since survival, and even less a survival without serious consequences in these fragile newborns is extremely rare.
But it is precisely in those most uncertain, most critical moments that the strongest hope is born. Little Rita defeated uncertainty step by step. She fought, survived and became the youngest baby born alive at “Acibadem Sistina” and one of the youngest in our country – a proof that sometimes the power of life overcomes even what medicine considers impossible.
The fact that today she is in the arms of her parents proves that the medical team acted correctly when they decided to make their maximum effort and did everything possible to ensure that she receives a complete treatment. She presented it with her first breath and all battles she subsequently won during her treatment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Acibadem Sistina Hospital.
