More than 2,000 doctors from around the world attended the 18th World Congress on Fetal Medicine, held in the Spanish city of Alicante from June 25th to June 29th this year. Dr. Irena Shuplinovska-Jordanovska, gynecologist from Acibadem Sistina Hospital, attended the Congress too. It is a World Perinatology Congress organized by the Fetal Medicine Organization led by Dr. Kypros Nicolaides, one of the pioneers in fetal medicine in the world.A number of topics were covered at the Congress, with a key emphasis on early detection of preeclampsia,  premature birth, fetal anomalies, their detection and possibility for fetal therapy, early screening for aneuploidy, fetal echocardiography, high-risk pregnancy, fetal surgery.
