As a socially responsible company that continuously invests in health, equality, and inclusion, Acibadem Sistina Clinical Hospital has become a healthcare partner of Special Olympics, providing professional medical support to its athletes. Through this partnership, Acibadem Sistina is directly contributing to improving the health, safety, and quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.

“This support comes at a particularly important time for our athletes. Throughout 2026 and 2027, Special Olympics is entering an important development and competitive cycle on the road to the World Games in Chile. In addition, one of the key international competitions in 2026 is the European Open Swimming Competition in Malta, which will take place from 10 to 14 September and where our country will be represented by a national delegation. We are grateful to Acibadem Sistina Clinical Hospital for its support and for recognizing the importance of healthcare for our athletes. Partnerships such as this are of exceptional importance for their preparation, safety, and ability to represent our country with dignity on the international sports stage,” says Darko Krstikj, Sports Director of Special Olympics.

As part of this support, Acibadem Sistina Clinical Hospital has provided healthcare services for the athletes, with the aim of ensuring timely monitoring and improving their overall health status. The support includes cardiovascular screenings, biochemical laboratory tests, as well as the development and monitoring of individual dietary and nutritional protocols.

“The aim of this initiative is to highlight the importance of regular preventive examinations for people with intellectual disabilities, to identify potential health risks in a timely manner, and to create conditions for better health, greater safety, and improved athletic performance. As a socially responsible company, it is especially meaningful for us to have the opportunity to be part of the athletes’ preparations and achievements, and through our medical expertise, to contribute to their well-being and the achievement of their sporting goals,” says Dr. Gorjan Krstevski, Specialist in Cardiology.

Over more than two decades of active participation on the international sports stage, Special Olympics athletes have achieved significant results at world and European summer and winter games and championships. From their first major appearance at the Summer Games in Dublin in 2003 to the World Winter Games in Turin in 2025, Macedonian athletes have won a total of 48 medals across various sports disciplines.
For Acibadem Sistina, supporting Special Olympics represents much more than providing healthcare. It is an investment in equal opportunities, dignity, and the creation of a society in which every individual has the opportunity to develop their full potential.
