MODERN APPROACHES AND NEW EVIDENCE FOR CHRONIC CORONARY DISEASE TREATMENT PRESENTED AT "ACIBADEM SISTINA"

27/05/2026

A professional meeting was held at the Acibadem Sistina Hospital, where the latest modern guidelines and evidence for invasive treatment of chronic stable coronary disease were presented. The presentation was given by Dr. Milan Milojevich, Quality and Quality Control (QI/QA) consultant at the hospital, who presented the latest recommendations based on contemporary medical research and clinical studies.

The focus of the presentation was the choice of the most appropriate treatment for patients with chronic and complex coronary disease - between the PCI procedure (stent placement) and CABG surgery (bypass surgery). The results of the large international studies EXCEL and NOBLE were analyzed, thus showing that long-term outcomes, such as survival, the heart attack risk and the need for repeated intervention, are of particular importance when making a treatment decision.

It was emphasized that the modern approach to the coronary disease treatment implies a multidisciplinary assessment, whereby the decision for treatment should be made by a team consisting of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, in order for each patient to receive personalized  and the most appropriate treatment.

Special emphasis was also placed on secondary prevention after intervention, which includes regular therapy, risk factors control and lifestyle habits change.

By continuously monitoring and implementing the latest global medical recommendations, Acibadem Sistina continues to provide state of the art, safe and high-quality treatment for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
