For the purpose of improving the mental health in children and young people, Acibadem Sistina Hospital has begun implementing a psycho-educational cycle of workshops for the teachers at municipal primary schools in the Municipality of Karposh. The first workshop was held at the premises of the Municipality of Karposh, and it was led by Kamelija Simeonova, MD, a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry from Acibadem Sistina Hospital. These activities are part of the hospital's continuous socially responsible mission, aimed at supporting and educating the educational staff.
"The Teacher Who Reaches Eternity“ Workshop was attended by teachers and professional associates from the primary schools in Karposh and it was aimed at strengthening the psychological stability of the teaching staff through professional and applicable interactive education. Through examples, real-life situations and experiences from the teaching practice, practical advice and guidelines on appropriate treatment and communication with children and adolescents were shared.
During the workshop, a discussion was opened about the psychological burden faced by teachers, as well as the importance of self-regulation and application of practical techniques for calming down in challenging situations. Special emphasis was placed on the role of the teacher as the first recognizer of emotional and psychosomatic indicators in students, as well as the importance of timely cooperation with professionals and institutional action.
As part of the educational process, the participants received a copy of the guide by Kamelija Simeonova, MD, including guidelines and tools for successfully managing the challenges of working with teenagers.
The psycho-educational workshops will continue in the coming period and all 10 primary schools in the territory of the Municipality of Karposh are planned to be covered. With such an approach, Acibadem Sistina Hospital, in cooperation with the local government, makes a significant contribution to creating a supportive, safe and empathetic school environment, based on trust, care and understanding.
