Prof. Aleksandar Gjoreski, MD, PhD, a specialist in radiology, interventional radiologist and head of the Department of Radiology, explains that the field of interventional radiology includes stenting and dilation of blood vessels in the body and the brain, as well as various types of embolizations for malignant tumors such as chemoembolizations, primarily of the liver. Various types of embolizations are performed as well for other health conditions such as: uterine fibroids, varicocele, benign prostatic hyperplasia, treatment of hemorrhoidal disease with embolization, pelvic congestive syndrome, embolizations for various types of bleeding, TIPS, but also vein interventions.

Interventional Oncology is particularly important section, and such procedures are performed exclusively at "Acibadem Sistina". It is a modern, minimally invasive treatment of various types of tumors in the body by a minimally invasive method, a treatment targeted to a small area at the site of the tumor or metastases.
