For the first time in Macedonia, a complex endovascular procedure on the thoracic aorta – TEVAR with so-called in situ fenestration for the left subclavian artery was performed at Acıbadem Sistina Hospital in a patient with a post-dissection aneurysm on the descending thoracic aorta.
Aortic diseases, along with other cardiovascular diseases, are among the most common diseases of modern life. Endovascular treatment of the aorta has long been the gold standard in the treatment of certain aortic conditions in the world, and is already being applied in our country. Nikola Lazovski, MD, specialist in vascular surgery, says that although standard endovascular procedures have long been commonplace in our practice, complex procedures are less common, more difficult to perform, but their effect is significantly greater for both patients and the entire healthcare and social system.
