NEW YEAR’S BABIES AT “ACIBADEM SISTINA”

Representatives of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Commission (EC) and the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) paid an official visit to Acibadem Sistina Hospital.
During the visit, the Commission representatives held a professional meeting with the hospital management and the personnel responsible for prevention and control of hospital infections. The processes of setting up and maintaining prevention and control of nosocomial infections and antimicrobial management at the hospital were discussed at the meeting, including all details of the operation. Afterwards, the representatives visited the General Intensive Care Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Center, the Microbiology Laboratory and the Molecular Laboratory.
Acibadem Sistina Hospital is the only private hospital included in the agenda of the five-day visit by the high-ranking representatives of the European centers. Positive impressions about the hospital organization of the operation were directed to the management. They emphasized that the most important processes of prevention and control of hospital infections and antimicrobial management are at the level of the leading hospitals in Europe. A detailed report about the official visit to our country is expected to be prepared, stating the Commission evaluations.

The visit to Acibadem Sistina Hospital was realized within the “One Health – Country Support to Advance One-Health Responses against Antimicrobial Resistance in Western Balkans” Program.
