INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON STERILIZATION: “ACIBADEM SISTINA” HOSPITAL – PIONEER IN THIS PRACTICE

Raising the level of sterilization in Macedonia and the region was the crucial aim of the international meeting that took place on March 23rd in Skopje. Acibadem Sistina Hospital participated in the meeting on topic “Application of sterilization procedures, their monitoring and control of sterilization”. Many topics were discussed at this important meeting, organized by the Disinfection and Sterilization Association of Macedonia (DSAM), as a member of the World Federation for Hospital Sterilization Sciences, in relation to materials’ reprocessing like their preparation, monitoring, validation, indicators of sterility and tracing the sterilized material after leaving the sterilization units until their return.
Aleksandar Stojkovski, clinical quality supervisor and medical technician for prevention and control of infections, delivered his expert lecture at the meeting as a representative of Acibadem Sistina Hospital.
Stojkovski presented the topic “Tracing of reusable items” at the first session of the event, arousing enormous interest both by the guests and lecturers from Macedonia, and the guests from Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and the Netherlands as well.

The very process of tracing reusable instruments and materials is a unique and pioneering project of “Acibadem Sistina” Hospital. It was explained in detail during the presentation, attended by nursing technicians working in operating rooms and sterilization departments, doctors, as well as representatives of companies dealing with medical instruments, materials and disinfectants.
