THE PATIENT WITH TOTAL ARTIFICIAL HEART CELEBRATED HIS 46TH BIRTHDAY

Goran Spirov from Shtip, the patient who undergone implantation of a total artificial heart two weeks ago, celebrates his 46th birthday today at Acibadem Sistina Hospital. Goran accepted the birthday wishes on his feet in the circle of his closest relatives and friends, as well as the hospital team that performed the surgery. He feels well and recovers from the intervention, as one of the most difficult and most complicated in cardiac surgery.

“You have merit that I am celebrating my birthday today with a new strength and enthusiasm for life” – were the words of gratitude Goran directed to the doctors and the entire team of “Acibadem Sistina”.
The surgery, performed the night between July 11 and July 12, lasting more than five and a half hours, was completely realized by the Acibadem Sistina team, led by the Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Nikolikj.
Implantation of a total artificial heart, as a complex cardiac surgery, ranged Acibadem Sistina Hospital at the very top of the world healthcare institutions that perform such interventions. At the same time, it was a huge step forward for the Macedonian cardiac surgery, which included our country within the few countries in the world where such operations are performed. Thus Macedonia has entered the list of 25 countries in the world where this exceptionally complex intervention in the cardiac surgery is performed, along the countries such as USA, Canada, France, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, Italy…
