ACIBADEM SISTINA HOSPITAL SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMS THE FIRST TWO HIF-COVERED CARDIAC SURGERIES IN CHILDREN UNDER ONE YEAR OF AGE

Acibadem Sistina Hospital performed two cardiac surgeries in children at the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, led by Vladimir Chadikovski, the only licensed cardiac surgeon for children in the country. Both operations were covered by the Macedonian Health Insurance Fund, and performed in the hospital, as a leader in the region, with the support of exceptional professionals, specialists from Acıbadem hospitals in Istanbul.

The two children that underwent surgeries are children under one year of age, i.e. 9 and 11 months old babies. They were diagnosed with severe congenital heart defects, one with a diagnosis of ventricular septal defect and severe pulmonary hypertension, the other one with supravalvular aortic stenosis. The operations lasted from four to five hours, but the children were discharged for home treatment within ten days of the operation.
Dr. Chadikovski says that the children are postoperatively well and wishes them a quick return to their normal everyday life.
The operations were carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tayyar Sarioglu from Acibadem Istanbul, who is considered the founder of pediatric cardiac surgery in Turkey.
With this type of interventions in children, recently covered by the Macedonian Health Insurance Fund, Acibadem Sistina Hospital proves to be one of the world’s hospitals where serious cardiac surgeries are performed in children.
