ACIBADEM SISTINA HOSPITAL APPLIES THE MOST MODERN AND PROVEN TREATMENT FOR COVID-19 PATIENTS

Acibadem Sistina Hospital has a fully staffed and technologically equipped Center for Treatment of Covid-19 Patients. The Center has a separate entrance and is completely isolated and separate from the other wards in the hospital, in order to provide maximum protection for patients and medical staff. Admission of patients takes place following a strict protocol, after prior consultation with an infectious diseases specialist. The appointment with the infectious diseases specialist is made through the hospital’s Call Center, telephone number 02/30 99 500, and the doctor is also available through the online consultation service.

The treatment of patients in the Covid-19 Center is carried out in compliance with the strictly approved protocols of the World Health Organization, the Macedonian Ministry of Health, as well as with the already established protocols of the Acibadem Health Group and the prestigious JCI organization. Dr. Patricija Kalamaras, eminent infectious diseases specialist, and Dr. Haralambos Sidiropoulos are involved in the treatment of patients with Covid-19. Depending on the health condition and the complications in the care of Covid-19 patients, the entire multidisciplinary specialist team of 260 specialists and experienced nurses is available.
In addition to treating Covid-19 patients, Acibadem Sistina Hospital is the only hospital in the country that offers all available coronavirus detection tests with express results: standard and urgent molecular PCR test, as well as rapid serological tests for IgG and IgM antibody detection. The hospital also offers the opportunity for organized testing throughout Macedonia, with a mobile team, and upon prior request from institutions and organizations.
Acibadem Sistina Hospital is the first hospital in the country and the region that used ECMO technology to save the life of a 45-year-old Covid-19 patient in extremely severe health condition with fairly advanced Covid-19 pneumonia. The treatment of the patient was conducted by a multidisciplinary team of doctors from Acibadem Sistina Hospital – Dr. Mitko Karagjozov, head of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery Department, prof. Dr. Aleksandar Nikolikj, head of Cardiac Surgery Department, Dr. Dimche Slavevski, head of Cardiac Surgery Anesthesia Unit, Dr. Nikola Shikov, head of General Intensive Care Unit and Dr. Patricija Kalamaras and Dr. Haralambos Sidiropoulos, infectious diseases specialists. This is the first patient in Macedonia to be cured of Covid-19 using this technology. From now on, this machine will be used in the treatment of other patients with severe complications caused by coronavirus infection.
