At the Department, we apply the most advanced diagnostic tools (EEG – electroencephalography, EMG – electromyography, EP – evoked potentials, computerized tomography and arteriography, as well as the most sophisticated magnetic resonance imaging device 3 Tesla).

Since 2016, the neurological team has been implementing an intraoperative neuromonitoring in many neurosurgical operations in order to reduce the risk of unwanted complications and injury of the nervous tissue during surgery.

A stroke is a sudden loss of the function of a particular part of the brain due to impaired blood circulation. In cases when blood supply to the brain is stopped for 5 minutes irreversible damage occurs and brain cells death is inevitable. Thrombolysis is cutting edge therapy for treatment of strokes. Its application is intravenous which causes breakdown of blood clots thus preventing further stroke damage. If patients are treated within 3 to 6 hours of the stroke occurrence, blood clots breakdown allows for a quick restoration of circulation in the clogged artery. As a result, a large and permanent brain damage is prevented. The application of thrombolysis treatment reduces or minimizes disability in patients with such disease.

There is statistical evidence to our success results but we value the satisfaction of our patients most of all. The greatest success of the Department of Neurology is its multidisciplinary approach that enables timely diagnosis and emergency treatment of patients with strokes, as well as diagnosis and treatment of all neurological diseases in adults and children.
