Students from Nova High School visited the laboratories at Acibadem Sistina Hospital

Seventh grade students from the International School Nova visited the Department of Diagnostic Laboratories at Acibadem Sistina Hospital. Dr. Dzengis Jashar, who is a Specialist in Pathohistology and Head of the Diagnostic Laboratories, hosted the event. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to see how the Biochemical Laboratory operates and they were also part of an educational lecture in the hospital’s amphitheater.

The main topic of Dr. Jashar’s lecture was cell definition and its structural elements and functions in the human body. The students had the opportunity to differentiate different cell types, familiarize with the process of cell division and see what a healthy cell looks like, as opposed to a cell with disrupted function via an illustrated presentation. The most interesting experience for the young students was the opportunity to monitor the cells under a microscope. The students already had extensive knowledge of this subject whereby their opinions and knowledge complemented the lecture of Dr. Jashar.

The Nova High School students’ visit is part of the curriculum for the subject of Natural Sciences.
